As much as I've played piano, my hands still shake and get sweaty every Sunday. Some days it's hard for me to walk up there to the piano. It happens every time. Some days are even worse than others and my heart pounds. Hopefully she can work past it eventually.

 

Being nervous is how you know you're doing something that's actually worth doing.

I'm not "making light." It genuinely helps to just take the plunge and do it the first time, and it becomes easier from there. I guess it might depend on the level of anxiety, but that's always what helped for me.

 

How many cycles a week do you think it takes look like that?

 

I don't think I ever really got over it. It eventually became easier to play in front of classmates, but I would still bounce my free leg up and down like a maniac until I got into the flow of the song. My knees would shake so bad once I had to walk on stage for a piano recital too. George always talks about wanting to listen if/when I get a piano/keyboard and I'm already saying no and that I will be too rusty for anyone to listen to for a while.
