Ah yeah ACH bypasses that. It is kind of why ACH sucks imo and if you can avoid using it besides moving your own money I would.

That is a lot of what ifs for something that you shouldn't ever put yourself into. Is this fake person also maxing all their credit cards as well? If so they are fucking themselves plenty so I guess they may as well get fucked by their bank as well.

 

Someone asked what a Panda was in the new people thread and I was going to direct them to click Panda in their post as I thought that linked to the wiki before, but noticed it wasn't blue. Hmm, testing C-SATS that usually turns blue.

You are absolutely right though. A HUGE majority of income for banks comes in the forms of fees. Simple money management can prevent it of course. I did a loan not too long ago where this woman was doing a cash out refi on her home with the intent of paying down credit card bills. How much you ask? 168k worth of maxed out credit cards. And you know right away as soon as you close and pay off those cards, that woman is going to rack up those bills again. With that kind of debt, i wouldnt be able to sleep at night.

Right? We dont make it a requirement to close the cards. We can only pay them down to zero. Dumb in my mind, but we can't control what a person chooses to do after we pay them down. At one time we did request that cards get closed, but there was a backlash on that and we lost customers since "we were controlling how they manage thier spending," not to mention it would suck to have to close older credit lines that positively impact your credit score.

 

tl;dr people are stupid

 

I'm doing a credit counseling program right now that closed all my cards and they distribute my payments to the companies. Surprisingly, my credit score went up about 40 points after they closed all my accounts.

 

I honestly think its an addiction. An addiction to living a life you can't afford. It's absolutely crazy. As much as I would like an 85in 4k TV, I know that although I could afford it, its not worth the impending debts that come with it. It's a serious addiction. I really wish i could see the clothes, cars, and furniture some of these people have to have such extensive balances.

 

Just finished my first Prolific study and I hate myself.

 

I suppose that they deal with people that can't responsibly use credit cards but that is awful advice. Unless a card has a yearly fee there isn't a reason to close the lines.
