    My whole understanding of hockey is based on this movie and the NES game Blades of Steel.

    I think thats like watching the bad new bears and thinking you understand baseball.

    70's and 80's hockey was pretty vicious. They still haven't made a hockey game with fighting as good as Blades of Steel

    I recommend Goon if you haven't seen it. I'm not sure if it really follows etiquette all that well but the fights are pretty entertaining.
