So, until my ex called me on this because it drove him nuts, I always called a windshield a windowshield.

I thought it was, like, a compound word. A window that is also a shield from bugs and stuff.

He pointed out it was meant to be a shield from the wind.

I still prefer my word, but I've switched to saying windshield.
