Sometimes I think the best parents are the ones who feel like they're not doing such a great job half of the time.

Kiddo and I are having a lot of "talks" lately and for the most part it's me who has to adjust what I'm doing because he's 15 now and it's time for him to start doing things his own way without mama interfering so much. He's gunna fall flat on his damn face soon, but...sometimes you just just gotta let them fall.

 

Lol, my daughter broke her arm while at the park with my MIL, who insisted that she could do the monkey bars just fine. Ella begged her not to make her but........she insisted and Ella was in a cast for 9 weeks. I can't even figure out how you fall from the monkey bars and break the arm and not the leg?????

Probably the same way I got dropped in a lift and dislocated my wrist instead of my legs- breaking your fall with your arm I've been dropped a bagillion times from lifts and tosses and witnessed a lot of that stuff and I've seen a lot of folks somehow position themselves so they break their arms without even knowing exactly how. Probably comes down to a reflex, I'd guess

 

I guess it's context. My MIL was screaming at her son who was up the stairs because she'd found the charges for well over a grand worth of porn/cam sites. When he turned to leave she full sprinted up the stairs and body slammed him to the ground/wall and it broke his collar bone pretty good. They told the doc. that he'd broken it playing football. So I guess it's how you handle it.

 

It's easier to function with a broken arm than a broken leg. So yeah, probably reflex.

Oh...my son made it quite clear it was I who had broken his bone. That boy tells the truth about EVERYTHING. (which I like...but dang, sometimes just give me a break and keep the lips zipped)

 

My dance teacher always reminded us to "PROTECT YOUR FACEEEEE!"

And I always laughed about this, until I saw a girl fall from a lift and just face plant onto a stage. Nose was shattered, teeth shattered, horrible concussion and issues there, real horrifying mess. I'll take the dislocated wrist from breaking my fall over a smashed up noggin or broken leg for sure!
