    Oh, OK. FWIW for something like mTurk/sporadic online income LLC is almost certainly the way to go. S-corps are expensive (relative to an LLC, in both time, headache, and cost), and realistically Turk+other random platforms is probably capped at <100k/yr so there's little tax savings to be found to justify the cost of an S-corp.

    Any tom/dick/harry can setup an LLC for like $200 lol. Slightly more if you value privacy/do things properly.

    ETA: Actually, in her specific case, neither may be helpful but its possible an S-Corp would be better.. hmm. I'm not an accountant/lawyer, so my understanding only covers personal experience and I've never had reason to opt for an S-Corp over an LLC.
    Technically its $20,000 AND 200 "transactions" - but mTurk likely considers a single HIT a transaction (since this is where they "process" the payment, and the tax law that forces the 1099 regulates payment processors IIRC).

    My 1099 said I had 7620 transactions. Which is well under the amount of hits I did. But well over the amount of transfers. I have no earthly clue what they consider a transaction.

    How many requesters did you work for? I'm really curious what they consider a transaction, PP is fairly clear what counts and what doesn't but mTurk is a black hole lol
