For everyone dealing with the Franklin Muthomi rejections, I finally received a reply from Research Compliance at NIU:

Thank you for contacting our office. We have reviewed your request. The researcher provided information that demonstrated a need to reject your submission. We found the rationale acceptable and will not be requiring payment or acceptance of the survey. Our institution has no say or baring on MTurk regulations regarding ratings (not sure if they are referring to my rejection rate being affected or the requester reviews), you may wish to contact them about concerns with their rules.


We appreciate you taking the time to follow up on this matter. The researcher is working with the programs used to determine flaws in this survey and ensure more submissions are acceptable in the future.


I feel like for the most part this is a generic response probably sent to others as well. What upsets me is that they never tell anyone exactly why the work was found unacceptable or the need to reject. I am not pushing any further to overturn the rejection but I am asking about that because I think it's ridiculous they can't give anyone anything but a vague response. They are already admitting there were flaws with the study on their end so idk what the need to reject is if they screwed up.
