You are an angel! The wiping aggressively thing still gives me nightmares from when I was stuck in the CCU and not able to do it myself. The day I was able to move enough to handle my own tush still within full sight of a nurse being held up by another person I cried I was so happy...then laughed because it was an odd situation. You guys, never take for granted the ability to poop on your own! It is one of the simple joys in life.

 

I'm in the same position. Cap (for the first time ever) and force myself to take the evening off, or leave some room for the greatest batch in the history of mturk that will surely drop if I do cap.

I agree. I can't help but think about how it would feel to be in a hospital>broken (insert whatever here) or stroke/whavever, having been independent before to dependent now and having bowel issues that are associated with being in a hospital/meds/stress/etc and having a CNA roll her eyes when I need to poop for the 4th time in an hour. I'd feel subhuman and embarrassed.

I don't want anyone to feel that way.. especially when it comes to something like that that's completely outside of one's control. Plus, they're all my adopted grandparents lol. It's just poop, people. Glove up and get to work. They're already down in the dumps (no pun intended)... least you can do is give them a warm, gentle wipe when they shit! hahah

Heh I figured it was something like that. In college I had a friend that did something similar. Lots of wiping of old people butts from what he told me.

 

Meh, always had severe health problems since infancy. parents didn't want to take care of it so it blew up in my face from years of stress and illness right before I turned 20 and my body decided it didn't really want to function anymore. Luckily as an adult I can choose to actually accept medical care and it's not nearly as bad and my fiance humors my very exacting standards on ginger ale when I'm liquids only and cranky. Made finishing college a Grinch though when I would get hospitalized for a couple weeks a semester and miss finals or something. Luckily, I have a home office and ge tto work 90% from there so it's great for my health! Also, as previously mentioned I forget how long ago I got to talk to Dabo Swinney and CJ Spiller after recovering from my legit death bed so...clearly worth it!

 

It's definitely not included in my job description. Supposed to be the cna 's job but they're.... shitty people. Plus, they pull out this lift machine that's super uncomfortable and messy and intimidating with heavier patients because they refuse to learn proper lifting/transferring/stand by techniques/procedures. Easier to just help them myself when they're in the therapy clinic that thankfully has a bathroom in it.
