Yeah, it was a whole ton of bullshit. I shouldn't even have to justify myself, but have repeatedly felt the need to mention that it was 90 degrees out and yes, I was wearing a dress but it was knee length, and how Matt and I were practically joined at the hip that night so it was not possible for someone to get the wrong idea from me. Poor Matt has never been purposely sexist in his life but didn't always take me seriously when I pointed out how not cool it was that my boss was telling me to ya know, let men hug me even if I didn't want to because it's a compliment, and assorted bs like that. Aviation has always been a difficult field to exist in as not just a woman, but a feminine one at that, and I've never been the type to try and dress more butch to avoid any negative attention. But to be told directly that like...if I didn't want a guy to try and rip my dress off me in the dark, I shoulda just dressed like a dude or something, maybe made myself look less appealing, sorry but what the actual fuck? And again, I horribly feel the need to justify that it was a perfectly nice and work appropriate sun dress. Anyway, now Matt gets where I'm coming from because he always knew I was putting up with some shit but never realized why I was so sensitive to unwanted touch or the fact men I worked with felt like it was ok to comment on how I was prettier to look than my coworkers NONSTOP. So yeah, fuckkkkk that noise. I won't let anyone strip me of my identity ever.
