I agree with you. Your example was 5k so that's what I was thinking. If I'm paying you 5K for a photography job you'd better be investing at least 50 good hard hours on that work. I wouldn't pay $500 for Ansel Adams lol. But I agree I should probably back away because...

Sorry I have to disagree back lol. If someone decides to go freelance they better be good enough that project droughts aren't an issue. It isn't up to a client to pay extra to make sure the person doing the job has enough money to get by when they don't have enough work, it's up to the contractor to hustle their ass off and make sure they don't have those dry periods, and charge the industry standard for whatever the service is. If it comes down paying a fair rate or paying higher than that so someone can afford to do their own thing then sorry about ya but nameless company #7 here I come...
