You know your stock footage has done its job well when you still get hype to watch it even though it plays in all 20+ episodes.

I enjoyed Madoka for what it was, but I've actually come to somewhat dislike the Urobutcher. I'm still a bit disappointed in Psycho-pass, enough that I didn't bother watching the second series.

I used to watch Sailor Moon when it came on Toonami with my older sister, does that count?

 

Yeah, Urobutcher is hit and miss for me now, too. I did really enjoy both seasons and the movie of Psycho Pass simply because dystopian scifi is my jam. I have the visual novel Mandatory Happiness on the shelf and after I read through steins;gate 0 I plan to embark on it. I wasn't a fan of Suisei no Gargantia, and Aldhoah.0 was spotty for me (though I read he only did like three eps of that). Can't remember what else he's done. He seems to pull the same trick with all his stuff (OH LOOK IT'S ACTUALLY HUMAN AND HUMAN EMOTION) which while it's innovative and shocking the first time, it doesn't hold up when that's all you have. Makes me glad Madoka was his first big work, because else it would have lost a lot of its punch, which would have been a damn shame considering the production value put into it.

And yes, I'd say so. I binged the entire franchise two summers ago for nostalgia and it's still fairly enjoyable.

 

Please tell me yuri bears is not about some anthropomorphic lesbian bears.

I actually enjoyed Suisei no Gargantia, up til the end, where it kind of lost track of what it was trying to do. He also wrote the Fate/Zero LN and he also wrote Saya no Uta. He's done some other more mediocre stuff. I enjoy a good scifi dystopia too, but I feel like there wasn't much originality going on with Psycho-Pass. I actually tried to watch Sailor Moon Crystal when it aired, but I just couldn't get into it. I remember even as a kid being able to tell Uranus and Neptune weren't just cousins like the English dub wanted us to believe, though.

Yes. There's also like symbolism and stuff, the director is a huge fan of that. I can't remember his name for the life of me now, though.

Oh right, fate/zero! I should have remembered that. I quite liked that; had the best version of Saber IMO. Apparently Sailor Moon Crystal is super faithful to the manga, which is why people are so split on it haha.

I actually do not like Saber at all. Also, while I get that it's faithful to the manga, I feel like the manga itself has aged poorly. It's kind of like the Beatles. Sure, it was innovative for it's time, but it's been played to death and other artists have taken the original tropes and plot concepts and refined them since then. I feel this way about a lot of 80s~90s favorite anime, though.
