    Yeah most of the p2p community has stupid amounts of storage these days.

    You don't trust Western Digital Reds? I got my 8TB WD Red for ~$160

    I also have everything backed up on backblaze

    With proper backups the type of drive that you have is not important. Personally I haven't ever had a HDD die on me.

    I've never had one die cause I monitor S.M.A.R.T. with apps that notify me. I am a big fan of Hard Disk Sentinel

    I'm just going to wait until the drive fails and replace it. Worst case scenario I can just redownload everything from my offsite backup on backblaze. All of my drives smart data still looks fine even after years of 24/7 use.

    I DID have a SSD die on me once awhile ago though and that was slightly annoying. I didn't lose any data and it only took about 15min to get the computer booted back up but running off an HDD instead of a SSD.

    Obviously never use a RAID as a backup... I was referring to when a RAID craps all over itself and basically self-destructs right after someone says a phrase like "I haven't had a drive die on me."

    If I backed up 6TB to AWS S3 it would cost me a fortune each month. I would be better off buying good hardware and backing up locally
