He's just a kid who's probably trying to find his own taste and not that of his parents. I know a kid I absolutely refused to listen to most of what my dad liked, but as I've grown older, I've discovered that I actually do like Parliament Funkadelic and early 90s hip hop while also liking my own thing. I went through a phase where I mostly listened to the stuff I heard on the radio and saw on Fuse and grew from there, and I think that's what most people who are into music go through?
