I'd imagine any pizza man brave enough to deliver a pizza to your door deserves way more than just $5.

 

$5 to drive a mile with a $20 pizza order??? Ummm nah i'm good lol. I'm not tipping 25% when they aren't even waiting on me. I till at least 20% in a restaurant but delivery is... delivery.

 

Or, get this, or their employer could compensate them for the gas and other things as would happen in any sane place in the world.

 

That pizza is only $10 because the company is too cheap to pay their employees and scamming everyone else into paying the wages for them. Raise the price of the pizza two bucks and pay people a decent a wage.

 

Believe it or not - most drivers aren't employees. They're independent contractors.

 

Thats my issue. $10 order, half mile 3 minute drive. $2.50 charge plus 5.00 tip is like 75%.

 

Tipping in general isn't silly at all but they need to do have done something to earn that tip lol

 

They should probably get a better job, then.

Actually most delivery drivers get paid mileage plus hourly wages for their time. They don't make typically service staff wages like waiters. Around here they typically make about $10/hr + milage costs.

 

This is what FedEx drivers don't give a shit about your packages. They are independent contractors and if you call to complain, the company is just like "sorry about that."

 

I tip absurdly for any service because it's no skin off my back. I went out to breakfast the other day and the bill was like $8 and I tipped $5. The difference between $1 and $5 isn't that big for me when I'm already ordering out, but the difference between a $1 and $5 tip for the person serving me is massive.
