Pros: Work is consistently available, which on mTurk is a very rare thing. While the schedule can sometimes be erratic it is probably one of the most reliable batches on mTurk.
Closed qual means the batches have enough work available to make a consistent wage on.
Requester will almost always reply if you have a question, though often if its a detailed question his response leaves me more confused than before I asked.
The work is incredibly engaging, each HIT is like a puzzle and you have to put the pieces together in order to submit it.
Once you're good at them the sustained hourly can range from $15-$30/hr without extra scripting/modding. I tend to average ~$25/hr (without bonuses) depending on the batch.
Cons: The work is much more difficult than people like to believe before they get the qual.
The requester can be very hit/miss on communication.
You only get paid for results, a lot of workers find those kind of tasks/pay structures frustrating, but if you're good at the tasks they're worth it.
The parent company ( https://hostcompliance.com/ ) seems to have no morals/values in regards to workers, and uses mTurk to get results as cheaply as they can. They give off the impression of being willing to sell their grandma's soul for a couple extra pennies IMO.
Can take a LONG time to "ramp up" your experience level to be able to do these HITs at a fair hourly rate.
The qualification process can be frustrating and little guidance is provided on doing the work correctly. It relies heavily on community support to help workers learn the ropes.
Tools provided to complete the work are buggy and detract from the experience.
Standard layout of the HITs leaves much to be desired, zero effort is put in to improve the worker experience through design or layout improvements.
While the work is engaging, that means a lot of mental effort is required to maintain a high standard of accuracy, which can be draining to some folks.
