I did the first few hundred basically using the guidelines I laid out above.

Then I let CT and the battery example convince me otherwise and did about 200 as if the box of 3 light bulbs was multiple items.

Finally I took a few minutes to think about it more in depth and came up with the system I posted.

So whichever way is right I guess the only certainty is that I got some wrong....
