    I distinctly remember sitting on the stairs of my fixer upper starter home that first night with that same feeling. It was left dirty, smelly, and a valve broke leading to the toilet causing it to run constantly. The cupboards were so filthy I ripped them out instead of unpacking dishes into them. It's a hard feeling to describe, but regret and being extremely overwhelmed is a good start.

    The good news? It will get better, and sooner or later you'll feel like it's your place, and regret will turn to pride. Hang in there.
