So default on PC, what about OW on worker?

 

Lately I've been abandoning OW in favor of worker PC at 980 and HF on www. You can lenghten your cycles to reduce the PREs like you're mentioning, but I find I miss too much that way. So I'm just building up my include list on HF to make up for the loss of OW.

What is your scan delay on your scraper (and are you using HF)?

 

My OW is on 4 seconds, my PC is on 980 ms, and I stil have 563 PRES since 7am LOL.

OW on worker - 5 secs
PC on worker - 980ms

HF on www - 2 secs

Heya, welcome to the forum

i'd say its more stable & feature rich than TM, which is hanging on by a thread on the edge of viability without changes to the code base. Hit Scraper does something completely different, but it is comparable to TM in the "old, stale" category compared to things like HIT Finder.

You'll find folks who cling to some of those old scripts and swear to high heaven they're perfectly fine. They aren't. Its simple fact. They may work "better" for an individual because its what they understand and are used to, but from a purely technical breakdown of the two they fail to deliver the same performance::resources used and should be avoided if you have to learn from the get-go anyway.

Because every 4 seconds you're basically guaranteeing yourself a request timeout. You get 1request/second, OW & PC do not (and can not) coordinate with each other to avoid mTurk kicking them in the nuts for making too many requests at once, so every 4s or so OW & PC will make a request at the same time (or in the same window, at least) - setting off the Mo/Larry/Curly eyeball poke gag.

@LLL (I believe) mentioned that she keeps her OW at 6 seconds and has PC at 1400 and seems to be doing very well. I'm going to assume any more strain than that on the worker site is going to keep pulling PREs.

Times do matter some, but it is also about how you are using Turk. If you are submitted a ton or looking at your stats a ton, will PRE you to death as well.
