I'm at work and I've been in different rooms because work. Yay for turking in meetings.

I do all my turking at work except this past weekend because I have medical bills to pay. And a wedding to finance.

To be fair, I'm proctoring exams right now. Bored out of my mind.

 

I know this was kind of just a silly GIF (I have no idea if you are one of those people, so I am not implying that you are), but it got me thinking about a thing that I think about a lot and felt like sharing with the forum.

Spoiler: A Little Rant About Should-ing

I make a lot of judgements, all day long.
I judge people; I judge things; I judge events and situations. I analyze everything and everyone, all the time. I'm pretty judgemental in my own way, really (despite how fluid and malleable those judgements tend to be). I can't help that, and I don't care to. I'm sure you all judge me in some manner or another as well, and that is none of my business.

Spoiler: A Little Rant About Should-ing

But you will never find me judging someone's mistakes (particularly out loud/publicly).
To me, the notion is incredibly rude; and for many, it can be painful. It implies that a "should" is being placed on you - you "should" have done differently. And if I throw a "should" at someone else, I am positing that I am somehow an authority on perfection, and that everyone else must live up to that version of perfection at all times. This concept enrages me, if I let myself think about it too long.

No one is at their best 100% of the time, and personally... I sure as hell don't want anyone thinking they've got to live up to whatever my standards are at any given moment in order to avoid public shaming in any capacity. Nobody owes me anything. And anyone who wants to posit their own judgements of my mistakes onto me, to imply I must do or be this or that (whether this be consciously on your part or not)... To you I say, "Do not 'should' on me."

I will do my best never to should on you, either.

That's just my random and unnecessary two cents for the day.

Pssh, I'm not scolding. When I have a flag job at my work, I do the same thing.

Speaking of which they just made that flag job a regular job, which explains why no one moved on the extra list this morning. I gotta bid that job!

 

Ironically, this post spazzed out and will not allow me to fix the mistake. Ah well.
