    Nothing revolutionary here but this is how I've met most of my friends since moving across the country:

    1. Take a class. I met my best friend at a state-mandated motorcycle safety course. Similarly...

    2. Get serious about a hobby. I started going to a rock climbing gym and people were practically falling all over themselves to show me the ropes and inviting to join them the next time they were climbing. Not because I'm cool but because they love climbing and want everyone else to love it too. I've met dozens of friends and good acquaintances from this.

    3. Volunteer. Look for group activities. I met a new friend last year on a litter collection canoe trip at the state park not far from my place. Even if you don't meet somebody, you've done some good.

    4. Multi-task on dating sites. I've met lots of people by agreeing to go out with any girl on Tinder who invites me to hang out with her friends at a party/concert/bar/whatever. If she seems like she'll have friends I'll like, I'm there meeting all of her friends.

    I actually love this one, but unless its your thing it might not work as well. Too easy to spot the folks who don't really want to be there.

    ..though maybe that's because its court mandated.. :dunno:

    Habitat for Humanity is SO GOOD for meeting folks. One of my lifelong buddies almost killed me at H4H. :emoji_laughing:

    @jsxca said she likes training dogs. Shelters need volunteers. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and re-acclimate abused animals so they could be adopted. And when I say animals, I mean dogs because you re-acclimate cats by just putting them with other cats for a while. I don't know why it works that way, but w/e.
