I've been hit by so many dumbass drivers that just suddenly whipped across me or whatever, but California would probably literally kill me. I'd never ride a bike there if I valued my life. The car experience is enough to make me facepalm.

Any cyclist in California should be admitted to the suicide hotline, and their loved ones should be reassuring them that life is indeed worth living.

Yes you can. I would. Other requesters who have done this have bonused the difference or close to it. Not every time, but it can happen.

My entire town pretty much has bike lanes, it's actually pretty nice. I can even roller blade around my neighborhood without worrying much.

Matt also wanted me to clarify he's a free rider and "the world is his playground." He's actually exceptionally good, he was sponsored by Oakley back in high school, and we still have a box of sunglasses that he shuffles through. He also rides his two stroke a lot, but quit doing it competitively because he didn't want to break his neck or something eventually. So now he just flies old planes...and recently bought a damn hanglider. I try not to humor his ego though, because it's already the size of a small country.

I assume one day he will go out in a ball of flames or something, as is tradition.

While we're on fun facts time, Cholesterol is actually very important as the building block for almost all important hormones in the human body, and its role in heart disease is only incidental, since it acts as a sort of "band aid" to repair damage. In the absence of atherosclerosis, high cholesterol doesn't do anything particularly bad to your heart or circulatory system. Lowering cholesterol is a disease-specific prescription that has been mistakenly marketed as general nutritional advice, likely with negative impacts on metabolism.

(This is just my "annoying crap I see on FB that I wish would die" rant time)

I felt like I was in pretty good shape until I tried to rollerblade uphill in my neighborhood.

Modern medical research doesn't seem to support the oft-repeated notion that either HDL or LDL cholesterol is inherently "good" or "bad".

Just cook everything in butter and stop worrying about it.

Butter is like 100x healthier than margarine, that's for certain.

If you use clarified butter it has a bit higher burning temp or you can just add a touch of oil to it. Not super healthy, but way healthier than burnt fat.

That's what I do when I'm searing myself some tasty ass steaks or making blackened chicken. +1 for clarified butter/ghee with a swirl of oil!

I love butter in my sauteed mushrooms, but I could never see myself ruining a good steak by adding butter to it lol.

You cook the steak first. Brown nut oil in a skillet, just a little. Then add some butter to the left over oil with some black peppercorns. Spoon it on the steak.

You have to use butter with filets usually because it doesn't have fat content like other cuts.
