I also love Chinook salmon, but we only seem to have that fresh up here in the NW.

    It's the butteriest-tasting salmon you've ever had.

I'm all about the kosher salt when it comes to my steaks!

I occasionally go stainless steel, but cast iron is my preferred weapon of choice.

I might try the pineapple thing for Matt next time, I'm not huge on Pineapple but he loves it.

We had a herd of cows, nothing was more satisfying than eating steak from the cow who head butted me.

I love cooking, love feeding people, it's my jam. The last handful of gifts Matt has gotten me were: new food processor cause I borked the cheaper one, a set of original french spice corningware like my great grandma had, a stand mixer with a higher HP that also matched the shade of basic Grinch teal my entire kitchen is themed after, a shiny new santoku knife, and of course the fridge to make up for losing my beloved cat for 11 days.

Also a Grinchin yeti mug with a hummingbird laser etched into that, that was pretty awesome.

You could definitely say I'm into cooking. :emoji_joy: That is a very accurate statement lol.

I mean, I don't need as many fun toys as I have to cook, but I'm damn well not gonna say no to more fun toys!

I got this spice mix at the last air expo I was at, called “ the right stuff,” or whatever. I thought it was a neat marketing idea, certainly different than the normal shit everyone throws at you. It was basically a seasoning salt, didn’t expect too much but tried it cause why not.

Holy shit, it’s so good. I’m not sure what wizard they had come up with it, but that person deserves a big ass bonus.

They use that stuff at my work. It's not bad, but it's kind of prototypical. I'm more of a flavor junky who craves something new and different every time. - I crave the unusual; the road less tasted. lemon pepper, orange peel, rosemary, that kinda stuff. - stuff people don't normally put on steaks.

    - but for cooking for others - grillmates is always a safe bet.

Have you tried a Chimichurri type butter? I've also done a mushroom butter that was tasty!

Yeah I don't need all that fancy stuff.

Refined basics are good enough for me.

Getting just the right dash of salt, just the right sear, just the right temperature, on just the right cut, etc.

The closest Trader Joe's to me is in Jenkintown, PA which is like a 25 minute drive for me. Sometimes we make the trip just because I'm out of this stuff. It's fucking addicting on everything.

It's clear to me from eating Atlantic Salmon why east-coasters aren't Salmon fanatics.

    Tasted nothing like Coho/Chinook.

Its so good. At first I was like "why the hell would I get this over just getting an everything bagel?"

Flavor, my dude. Flavor. Also, putting it inside the bagel makes an everything bagel that isn't a messy disaster. Worth its weight in gold.

I actually use Trader Joe's taco seasoning for my mash meal and.. I know no one will believe me.. But it legit tastes pretty yummy with it and its not nearly as sodium laden as most taco seasonings.

Anyway carry on with the jealousy inducing food talk. Finally saw something I could relate to :emoji_joy:
