Besides more HDDs and the GPU I haven't upgraded a single part in around 4 years so it really shouldn't surprise you if someone has a better computer or more ram than me lol

It makes a difference in FPS consistency when you run 144+FPS framerates for faced-paced games, but other than that and for music production, I definitely agree with you.

This computer was from 2013 and I haven't upgraded the RAM since then either lol. I built it with 32GB.

High FPS twitch gamers are a minority among minorities. That is one of the use cases that it matters for however.

Lol yeah both of us have old computers

The $5 one took about 20 minutes for me. You could probably do it faster. I went pretty slow.

Caught it, threw it back. A full 30 day AA combined with 'think about these attributes' & 'write about a time' right out of the box makes this a nope this morning.

I don't think it's that much of a minority at all if your base set is "people that need high-performance computers".
My 3930K was an absolute BEAST when it came out though. We're just now finally getting to the point where the high-end Coffee Lake i7s can match it in benchmarks. For the last few years, the only way to beat it was with the equivalent LGA-2011 ([4/5/6/7]9[3/6]0k) enthusiast i7 or with a Xeon.

I'll prob build a threadripper build for shits and giggles at some point. It is the first chipset since sandybridge that has been like "this is a big jump"

We need to start a daily database of hits that are purely a waste of our time. You click accept and waste 3-5 minutes

You should have submitted and then sent an email... well go ahead and send them an email now with the code ect but it is going to be more of a pain in the ass now.

I probably won't, since latency is generally more important than throughput for my purposes.

When something becomes so massively parallel like that (i.e., a GPU), the tendency is for latency to die a sad death.
Which reminds me of something hilarious - modern GPUs perform significantly worse on 2D benchmarks than GPUs from years ago lol.
Gonna have to find myself a 2D-optimized GPU for intense 2D graphics lmao.

In a year or two, I'll probably build another PC with whatever the latest i7 is at that point.

intel's performance per $ is kind of a joke right now for most use cases right now. Now if I needed to do lots of crazy virtual machine stuff with GPU sharing ect I would get something from intel but it will be at least a year before they get their shit together most likely.
