Not the same thing. I'm talking about like when you get a survey, read all the info and click through a few pages and then it says something like - "Explain your life in 500 words" and then you go back and return it - (Just a bad morning rant too)

Today started off well. Mturk decided to have an hour nap but that's okay because here's where the HITs start dropping.
    Right.

As far as I can recall, Intel has always made the higher-end, reliable hardware for people with money to spare.
AMD has always been the $/performance ratio company.

I think this is one of those scenarios where widespread belief reinforces reality.
As long as people believe that Intel is the company to buy high-end CPUs from, AMD's high-end CPUs will be financial failures and they'll cease or cut down R&D and/or production of them.

It's crazy sometimes how believing something to be so is enough to make it so.

Lol if you think that AMD's high end CPUs are going to be failures that is cute. Competition is good for the market anyways.

I think you're in a fairly niche audience in wanting to buy a high-end AMD device.

But who knows, maybe AMD's profits are soaring from the GPU crypto-craze, and they'll re-up this money into their CPU business.

    ...But they are.
Nobody buys AMD for high-end computationally intensive purposes. They have bang for the buck but if you need high end number crunching and don't care how much dough you spend (as people who have high end number crunching needs tend to have...) you buy intel.

Also the enterprise market is almost exclusively Intel, which is where a lot of those high end CPUs go...and why am I even typing this right now?

    Pretty much this.

I don't WANT AMD's high-end CPUs to be financial failures, and I also like competition.

@Randomacts , make note of the key word "financial". The CPU might be an excellent one. But I'm talking about whether or not the CPU can flip a significant profit - enough to encourage AMD to double-down on high-end CPUs in the future rather than this being a one-off thing (like the brief moment AMD was ahead in the CPU market when they were first to market with consumer 64-bit CPUs).

From a human psychology perspective, I just think it's interesting because it's a case of belief creating the believed reality.
