Amazon Echo will be useful to you in linear proportion with the number of home automation devices you own.

Automatic garage openers, Philips Hue lights (or other automatic lights), maybe a Logitech Harmony transmitter or other IR blaster to control your TV by voice, etc.

If you have all of these things that make a "smart home", an Echo makes for a good voice control point that you can configure to respond to your inputs.

It's an okay device in its own right, but if you're only using it by itself without a "smart home", you'd likely just be better-served by downloading the Alexa app for your phone or just using whatever smart assistant comes bundled with your phone.

So, I realized I had a rejection which puts me at 19 rejects total since I've been turking. This rejection came from a survey called "Survey on crisis readiness in organizations" by Ryan Patrick Fuller and he said "Hello- After careful review of your responses to my survey, I have decided to reject your HIT. In reviewing the HIT, I discovered close or similar IP address and/or location ID through Qualtrics to other responses in the data set. This is despite a setting on Qualtrics to prevent ballot box stuffing. I am removing your responses from my data set. I ask that you not participate in any of my research studies again. Thank you." This was the only survey I had taken from him. Can anyone explain me to me what he means by this? It was like around 2-3am when I say it and was too sleepy to even try to dechiper it.

 

I like it! I like it better with my wireless portable speaker thing I got for cheaper because of an early Black Friday sale.

I mean, it’s one of the more frivolous things I’ve ever bought but I like the fact amazon streaming music is cheaper when it’s for your echo (I like the unlimited skips) and that I can make it my virtual slave. I have a WiFi outlet and I just used my Alexa app to turn Bearnie’s fountain off and on from Vegas lol.

I think that life is worth it, and from your past posts, it seems to me that you've done more than your share of drugs that might've rewired your brain to think otherwise. I usually think that most depression patients are over-medicated, but I think in your case, the right combination of antidepressants might make you realize how worthwhile life actually is. You've got to fight fire with fire (or drugs with drugs).

 

I'm not gonna have this conversation, (I don't mean this in a rude way) It's not the drugs that make me the way I am. It was my life man, trust me.

Chronic exposure to drugs will rewire your brain. That's an indisputable fact.

I realize that having a tough life is also a major factor in depression (usually the most significant factor for most people), but drugs leave you with permanent physical alterations in how the electricity in your mind actually flows.

I feel that in your case, it certainly may have been both. It doesn't have to be "either/or".

Thanks a lot. You pretty much laid out my exact thoughts. I don't really have any smart home stuff going on other than a thermostat, but I adjust the thermostat so infrequently that I don't really see how voice control would benefit me. For tv, Apple TV has Siri built into the remote.

With that said I'm still tempted to buy a $30 voice activated kitchen timer because of reasons I don't even know

 

I've been like this since I've been like this since I was 10, maybe later on in life drugs exacerbated it but really I didn't start doing drugs till I was 20 and they were all prescribed, I just may or may not of taken them like I was suppose too~

You bring it up yourself every time you hint at your depression and/or suicidal tendencies.

I usually ignore it because most people don't have a taste for my flavor of tough love, but you need to stop and get actual professional help instead of fishing for people here to try to help you IMO. And if you are getting professional help already, you need to fire them and hire someone that actually does a good job, boss.
