11/28 Totally Turktacular Tuesday

Well you know what they say about opinions but I am a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer 3 times over (and have the shiny ID card to prove it) and prefer Mac products ANY day.

 

ooh, sameday amazon is great. New router and cables will be here later today.

I do this all the time. Someone will mention going to a store for something, and I'm like... ??? the store of Amazon?

 

No prob having duplicate posts. The more, the merrier.

But if you link to Amazon and @ChrisTurk figures out how to keep his Associates account, it has a small chance of helping the forum make a little $$$ compared to just mentioning it.

 

I'm torn if I want to go "christmas-y" or not, like I keep seeing super cute things but then i'm like "She would only get to wear this for one month"

I had the privilege of watching Microsoft take over the market as a CNE in the early 1990s. Like why did my boss by Back Office? It contained all 3 MS marketing tactics: FUD, Forced Obsolescence, and Vaporware.
I have actually found a Novell server with 4 years uptime and 3 console messages in a dusty unused PBX room. The legend happened to me. This was a production server running on a 486 SX 25, generic bargain-basement components. 4 years. "Where is this server, I can't merge the partitions!" I had to invade a neighboring office which took over our real estate in the intervening time! The other company's Admin let me keep the server in his closet just for giggles. It was still there when I left the company, although I did have to reboot for an upgrade.

 

That's pretty much all I used it for before the one here closed. Or I would go there and just price match with Amazon if I needed something right away.

 

What kind of evil person would do such a thing to a desktop

Spoiler: UPS RANT!

First, my package was going to be delivered today, then yesterday i got 4 emails in a row changing the date and time, and it finally settled on today. Apparently he attempted to deliver it last night while I was at the movies, didn't leave a delivery attempt note, and then UPS decided to deliver my package to a local business....my 24 lb package. I'm not schelpping that 2 blocks, what the hell happened to 3 attempts?

So I chatted first thing this morning to stop that nonsense, and asked my local center to call me, and an hour passed and they didn't. It's physically on the truck and it's going to literally drive past my house today, but apparently they are going to deliver it tomorrow! I've put in 2 requests to have the center call me so I can talk to them directly and explain the problem, and those went unreturned. So now I'm on a 16 minute hold to talk to a supervisor on the phone.

And they can't attempt to deliver it tomorrow, because I won't be home, they refuse to leave it, and we'll be just back to square one.

 

I still have a stack of Sun "Pizza Boxes" that I just can't let go and enough Cisco Switches and Routers to make a fort

 

That's my reasoning but then she only wears the neutral outfit once. But at least when I take pictures, I feel like I can leave them up all year rather than only take them out for Christmas

 

I'm awful about only putting things on her once or twice, but then there's the few select things she wears like once a week.
