Funny, I think it has the opposite effect. Devs don't have to fix bugs or introduce requested features, because they know that if you don't pay them on the next cycle, you won't even get the already-implemented features you paid to use. If you don't update, you simply can't use the software at all.

It makes sense for things where the technology itself comes with inherent maintenance costs (i.e., web hosting), but it makes zero sense for software development IMO. If you want me to pay for updates, show me that the updates will fix bugs, improve performance, and/or add features that would be helpful to me.

And goddamn it, if I overdraft a bank account because I forgot to put money in the right place at the right time to cover an IDE subscription...

I mean, I can do 5 at once, I just don't like to if I can help it. I get into a solid groove with 3 at a time, 4 makes me hit back more than I'd like, 5 is only for desperate times lol. I also open all the tabs across monitors though, so I can switch between tabs if they are *that* slow.

@RobertDevious If you have multiple monitors, I can highly suggest opening multiple pfa in each one, doing a few at once, close the tab when you submit, keep going. A+ pfa ham bone mode.

To be clear though, I'm a bit jealous that you can actually stand subscription models, because the workflow and organization in JetBrains IDEs make sense to me as someone who used to write a lot of Java.
