My daughter loves video games (Minecraft/Roblox/etc. specifically) but we're roomed up with another family that has 3 kids around her age right now, so they get noisy as shit when they all play together. She's got a good balance of quiet/loud play.

Ah shit, I have so much sympathy for you. Like in all honesty, and this isn't parental bias speaking, my daughter is the best fucking kid i've ever met. Like she is so quiet and keeps to herself so much, and even when she's around other kids she doesn't get loud or crazy. As a matter of fact, she Grinches to me when they get loud and crazy because she's "sick of them"

I love my kid, I can not deal with other people's kids.

My GF was the stereotypical mindless cheerleader in high school, and I'm more cerebral, so I like to think that between the two of us, our daughter can shift gears between the two modes pretty smoothly.

 

Close @RobertDevious , my full name is Jacquelynn - the "lynn" was in honor of my Godmother Lynn (yes I'm Jewish now but I was baptized when I was a baby). But plenty of people who's full name is Jacquelyn still call themselves "Jackie". No one really has the name Jackelyn (and dear lord help them if they do).

My parents chose Jacquie as a nickname in honor of my grandfather bullfeathers (mom's dad). Growing up, he called all his children his finks, but my mom was special, she was the only girl of 5 kids, so my grandfather called her his phinque, insisting that the female version of fink was spelled differently. So they made sure my name had the "q" in it in his honor.

I love that story. He was my favorite Grandpa. He was also the first one to die I miss him still.

 

My uncle Giacomo (pronounced "Jackomo") goes by Jackie.

 

Honestly that's such a good combination to have. I worry with my daughter sometimes, that she's just going to avoid other kids so much that she won't ever have friends. Oftentimes when I ask what she did at recess that day, it's "Swinged on the swings by myself", but none of the "i'm sad because no other kids played with me" type of thing, like swinging by herself is exactly what she wanted. Her dad and I both very much like to keep to ourselves and hate being around other people, so it's no wonder that she's like that I suppose.
