    I had to do a report on Cromwell in British lit and part of the reason gin became so common was that he taxed the ingredients of whiskey to discourage Irish and Scottish imports. A lot of Danish or Dutch gin imports became popular as a result. Then a lot of bathtub gin started popping up everywhere too. England can thank Cromwell for gin's relevance in their country.

    I do like cleaner gin taste. I'm also one of those weirdos that likes dry vermouth in my martinis.
