I did so much work with expensive tools I'd learned inside and out in the engineering phase.

I'd use Revoice Pro (Vocalign's successor) to fix timing and pitch problems (some had a LOT of both), often manually editing each syllable from the start to the end of a song. That was usually a full day's worth of work.

Then I'd go through and use my secret weapon (Perfect Declipper Pro) to fix distorted stems that the artist couldn't or wouldn't re-record.

Then we go through and chop up the vocal stems manually into word-by-word clips in order to do word-by-word processing where necessary in order to make them hit the track and bus compressors more consistently (setting compressor settings just to bring down a few phrases because you're too lazy to do it manually can result in destructively squashing too many other things).

These last two steps were usually a day's worth of work.

And then we're finally ready to... Actually do all of the base EQ / compression / reverb / delay that give the song its base sense of polish. Boy, this step can take some time, especially since automation is often necessary.

At this point, we've usually invested around three days' worth of work. Two if we're absolutely speeding through.

And only after that are we ready to start doing the exciting effects and rearrangements that get the artist excited about their song. By this time, as an ME, you're usually already sick of the song from listening to tiny segments of it on repeat literally 1000+ times, so you're starting to consider how much you're being paid for this project, and how you can deliver a project that the client will approve with the least work possible.

Boy, I'm happy to be doing work these days that don't involve me listening to some terrible rapper's music all day long. Some were great (i.e., mixing Loesta's music was nice since it didn't suck), but most were terrible.

 

No prob, also, there wouldn't be much or any noticeable difference between two of the same series cards. Two 970s with the same specs should be putting out around the same quality of graphics regardless of brand.

Both at the same time. Weight lifting with power nap between sets.

 

I think that I have done that before, used to go to the gym before work at like 3am.
