Cat people!!! We need some help. Our kitty has been pulling out her fur for a few months now. At first it was just licking it like crazy until it came out. We thought it was a little allergy and she'd get over it. Then it got worse, and we called the vet and they said to just give her a flea treatment because it sounded like fleas (though there are none in the house and there's literally like one day she could have been exposed to them and it was months ago and I can't believe she has fleas and no one else here does). So we figured we'd wait until after the holidays. But in the last week or so, she's stepped up her game and is pulling chunks of hair, so bad that she has sores everywhere she's pulling it out. When it wasn't so bad, everyone I talked to said the vet never helped them, that their cat just stopped doing it one day, but that it would get bad in the meantime.

So... what do you say? Is there an ointment we can put on her open sores? Can we give her something over the counter that'll help? @dewdrop has been wiping her with a damp cloth in the evenings, and she likes it, but she's not getting any better.

    Anyone, anyone? @Hummingbirdee ? @Buzby ? Anyone?

Are you over 1000 hits yet? If so, you should be looking for CIs (Customer Interest Audit) hits. 1c, can do in few seconds, especially Kada's keybind script. Jamelios. Kasistos. Beyond that, closed quals are your friend. Stick to the board, watch people talking about them, and generally pay attention to the forum for batches.

I mean. I would def take her to the vet at that point. It could be excessive grooming from anxiety or stress, or it could be an infection of some sort. Hot spots maybe?

Have you changed her food recently? Could be an allergy. Or dust mites. Or mold. Cats will even sometimes rip their own fur out when they feel pain.

I would be kinda worried that she will give herself an infection from the sores too tbh. They sell topical hydrocortisone cream for cats/dogs like this that I’ve used on hot spots in the past: https://www.chewy.com/dp/106178?utm...WmsTnTPgYbgTdXRQKygaAvkIEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

But, I’d still badger your vet if this isn’t clearing up for the poor kitty.

I don't know- but, I will ask the Director of the cat rescue I work with. Won't get an answer until tomorrow, but I'll let you know what she says... maybe she will have some ideas as she's been doing this and getting lots of cats vetted for years. Worth a try.

Actually going through the same thing with one of my cats.

After a few different things, I got this to help heal the sores:

And I have some calming stuff I'm mixing with his food now to help with the anxiety. Just started so I can't say how well it works yet.

I have around 250 to go until I hit my 1000. Yet another reason I need to get myself to just buckle down and do a bunch of quick penny hits. I REALLY appreciate it! Thanks for giving me some info

For sure! You're welcome to DM me too if you want to know about what all I've tried that definitely didn't work (I know every cat is different of course) or at least just want to know what I've come across while dealing with this.

I will say it sounds dumb and easy, but I've made sure to hold and cuddle him like 500% more and it helps him not attack himself at least while being comforted like that. But then the loud dog that lives above me starts howling and my poor cat freaks out and runs off to overgroom. :(

I will say for sure that wound spray is great, and he started realizing it was causing him relief and now purrs when it's time to put it on him again.

Hubby and kid have to go into town tomorrow, so I'm having them stop to see if we can get any of this to help out her sores. We'll get her to the vet as soon as we can get over in that direction (other direction from town, still a good ways, and not happy roads right now).

Another questions (sorry)...how does one get involved with "closed quals"? How does one do a qual if it is closed?

Sometimes with more popular requesters qualification hits will be posted here, otherwise use the qual watcher option in Overwatch. (Click the blue link in my post if you don't have that yet).
