As someone who started with C++ and explicit memory management, I've never actually used a debugger to look for memory leaks. I've never really had any. I'm looking for the challenge and opportunity of finding a weird Javascript corner case and pushing the limits of my understanding, so I'm checking it out for fun.

Are you sure that it's your script causing the memory leak, though? Does it appear in a fresh profile with no extensions and HIT Forker as your only userscript?
