I second this, @WildFlower. You're not forced into anything, even if you just want to lurk for motivation and support.

Personally, I'm in a more involved one-on-one buddy system with someone which works for me the best, and being part of the group is supplementary. Gurl is also one of my support buddies and she's pretty freaking great and has done awesome running the group and getting everything organized. It's definitely worth checking out if you're interested.

Tbh, I started turking a year ago next week and it happened within the first couple weeks so I don't remember. I've also never talked about it because it was a mistake that I made intentionally so I was embarrassed about it, it did teach me not to mess around on the platform and I am grateful of that and I'm secure in my work habits enough now to talk about and hopefully help someone to not make the same type of mistakes.

Because of your experience, I've always wondered about something -- In the process of blocking a worker, does Amazon let the requester know that blocks can jeopardize a worker's account -- for example, is there a confirmation screen which informs them that blocks should be reserved for extreme circumstances?

FWIW I appreciate y'all. I wasn't trying to make you feel bad I just know some funny stories in relation to Endor & like making jokes.

Frankly, the fact that BZ blocks anyone is silly to me. Way back in the day his A/Cs used to have the answers embedded right in the HIT, and 2 of them were flat out marked incorrectly, so I don't think he really has much business dolling out blocks but

LITERALLY EVERYONE screws up in a semi-major way at some point on mTurk. I myself probably haven't intricately read 500,000 sets of instructions lol.

And just as a natural course of learning you're going to run into things like above, or fork up and submit a ton of HITs blank. Shirt happens. I'm not being judgy, just taking the piss at a situation I find mostly amusing 'cause I'm old & senile

Well, they should. IMO, blocks should be reserved for abuse, not mistakes -- or even careless work. In those cases, the requester can reject a HIT. Blocks should be reserved for people who are scamming the system. But thanks for the info.
