    On one hand, I really like music as a subscription service due to how infinitely discover-able everything is and you can take a chance on a new artist without feeling like you're risking something. On the other hand, it really did decimate the general "local record shop" scene. It's kinda made music a commodity and took a lot of the culture aspects out of it. Sadface :(

    The local record shop is most definitely a dying breed these days...and it's kinda hard to see how they're going to pivot their business model to make sense in the new reality of internet music streaming. Apart from the holdouts who still buy on CD and the collector demographic, they're going to find it hard to find a reliable customer base.

    To be fair, didn't Circuit City and Best Buy really kill the local record shop scene? With the exception of Tower Records, which can't be called a true local record shop though certain locations operated in a similar way, I can't think of a time when the local record shop scene was really a thing in recent decades.
