I'll eat shrimp, oysters, or scallops maybe 3-4 times a year. Don't think I've had crab or lobster in the past 10 years.

    Absolutely!

My top tip (for crabs at least) is if you're cooking outside and making a lot or if it's really hot put them on ice in a cooler. It keeps them alive but their body temperature really low; as a bonus they won't squirm as much while you're transferring them into the pot.

Also for crabs cook them in (cheap) beer.

I lived on the coast for 10 years and I don't recall ever having a conversation about seafood other than the occasions where I ordered sushi and it wasn't so much of a conversation, just me ordering the most delicious rolls on the menu.

Do vegans debate whether oysters, clams, muscles and scallops are animals? They don't have a brain or nervous system, they grow off stuff kinda like plants do.

I eat fish maybe once every five years to see if I'm missing something. I'm not. I just get veggies or something if someone drags me to a seafood place. I always thought New Orleans would be cool to visit one day and then I think, they eat so much seafood down there, I'd starve. I'd be living on beignets and coffee.

I had crabs five days ago lol. I don't eat scallops very often but I really like them as long as they're cooked right.

I was a vegan in high school and vegans don't eat animals or animal products, period. For most of them, that includes honey but it's kind of up for debate. A lot of them also try not to buy anything with animal products (ex. things that contain gelatin, leather goods, etc).

Most vegetarians I know personally, however, do eat fish. So they're technically "pescatarians", I guess, but I hardly know anyone who uses that to describe their diet.

Good to know. Although I'm not saying living off beignets would be a bad thing.

Yeah, I know what vegans are, but where do mollusks fall? They are almost like fungi. I don't know that you could classify them as animals.
