    Fun fact, both potatoes and tomatoes are in the same family as deadly nightshade. There are also other edible fruits that are totally not poisonous in the same family, but they all look fairly similar, so whoever discovered that they weren't poisonous must have been either a very brave or very foolhardy and hungry individual.

    Or it took a lot of people dying to figure out which was death food and which was not. Is that why tomato vines make give some people rashes? I've never experienced it, but I ran across it a lot when I researched why cucumber vines give me rashes.

    Might be plain old allergies? I know there's an old myth about green tomatoes being poisonous for this reason, but I know people who eat fried green tomatoes all the time and haven't died yet.

    If you leave a potato out where it gets sunlight it'll start turning green and needs to be thrown out because green on your potato is poison.

    That's if it starts sprouting eyes, and in that case I think you're supposed to cut it up and you magically get like 10 plants where you only had a single potato before. Plants are actually pretty amazing that way.
