in West Virginia, the state tax auditor auctions off properties that have tax liens on them (where property taxes are unpaid and the gov't puts a lien on the property). they have a list on their website where you can go to the auctions, they are usually at the county courthouse of where the property is and they usually do a bunch at once

You gotta keep in mind though, a lot of the places that go up for tax sale (at least around here) aren't the nicest. You do occasionally find some gems though. I know two different guys that bought houses like that... one was a $100k house that he paid $12,500 for at auction, and one was a $30k house that was packed with hoarder shit that dude paid $5000 for and has since made about $7500 from selling the hoarded shit lol

I mean, we travel at about the speed of a car and it's a totally mechanical plane so we aren't fancy or anything and we both put a lot of time into it. We go to a lot of events where we are the rednecks of the ball so to speak. We went to an eclipse party at an airport in a pacer that was duct taped (nothing important) and were parked between planes that were like 250k+ each. It was fabulous. We are the Clampetts of aviation. We both drive old cars for the most part and outside of his motorcycle (rest in pepperonis), I don't think either of us have ever bought a big purchase new or even remotely new. I had a car that was a few years old and I eventually ditched it for a '99 POS bug that cost me next to nothing to drive around (and now Matt's dad drives lol). Our Jeep is old enough to vote We spend more money on planes than than anything else I'd say.


But yes, definitely fun! Especially when I bat my eyes into much faster planes lol. Matt gets a stipend to cover some of the costs of av gas and such from his job to encourage him to keep up his flight time and such and we used to work at a historical airport, so we've taken some pretty neat stuff out for a spin! This is also how I got my dog home
