90% of programming is finding code on stackoverflow and changing aspects of it until it somehow works with your project, lmao.

 

Every time I ask a question there they treat me like I am dumb and then report my post nine times lol.

If I had ever known that I would have to use my brain with this shit I would have NEVER started.

I definitely understand that. Especially with android app development. Since android studio changes so much, the textbook's code doesn't work. I spend hours getting each app to work since I have to search so much to find what the modern equivalent of things are.

It's definitely rude when learning material can't keep up with the updates to languages and shit being deprecated. Especially when it can come down to literally a semicolon being off, or the ordering of words.

The textbook is from 2015 so the code is ancient. Spent 6 hours on Sunday writing 2 very simple apps just because I was having so many issues that would take forever to look up on stackoverflow. Literally just a tap counter and a hello/goodbye app

 

If you wanna talk deprecated, my intro programming course in college (in 2008, mind) was freaking cobol.

Sure some businesses that don't want to upgrade still use it, but like... come on...
