I know it doesn't.. i've always hated there's a delivery fee and NONE of it goes to you.

I personally don't get paid per words at work, I'm considered freelance and I get whored out to other companies to do copy editing/ghost writing parts of works in progress.

Per word has been the standard for at least a century. The other way to pay is per column inch, but that is mainly for newspapers. And 1 cent per word is like slave wages; I'd never work for that much. I generally won't take a job unless is at least 10 cents per word, which means I don't really do freelance writing on mturk any more. I have gotten fed up with pretty much all of the online freelance groups and am sticking with old-fashioned queries and submissions to editors. The pay is much better. Yes, a/etc/the all count, at least they do at what I think of as legitimate jobs.

 

I always do tip no less than $5. Which is why I say it isn't $8 when I factor that in.

I come from a family of tip-earning service people so it was ingrained in me early that if I cant afford a tip I can't afford to eat. Period.

The only company that I've delivered for and does that is Dominoes, every year you work as a delivery driver you get an increased amount of the delivery fee. So unless your dominoes driver has been delivering your pizza for the past 5 years we get none of it.

I should add that I am talking about feature articles, filler, webzines, etc. There are other standards of pay for other kinds of writing. I think ghostwriters often get paid per page, or hourly. I've never done any ghostwriting or technical writing.

Hi! Ghost writer/Copy Editor/whatever my agent tells me to shut up and work on here and yes, I normally get paid per assignment or hour depending on what I'm doing. Most of my editing work is at an hourly rate and I'm just expected to finish projects in a timely manner. When I write entire articles I have a base commision. I've very rarely been paid by the word, even when I'm writing copy or fiction. I avoid mturk writing like the plague lol.
