Yeah, not to mention everyone thinks they're a nyt book reviewer or some shit and have to be super edgy and dramatic. You're on the internet, XxBoOkLUVverRRxX, calm down.

I guess I'll have to look up that Chabon book next then! Thanks for that. That's generally how I find new books too. I'll either ask for recommendations from someone I trust, dip into my billion books I already bought or downloaded and forgot about, or browse amazon, niche topical communities, AskReddit threads, or just the good ol' fashioned library. And I try to avoid all reviews, at least shitty online Joe Schmo reviews, until I'm done reading. I used to be part of a good sized group (hockey fans actually lol) on an old forum and we had maybe 3-4 people who would recommend books to each other, but that group devolved into a giant group text so the book group within it dissipated. But talking about this just made me ask one of them -
