It's funny how when I think of Matt having way more than I did growing up (golf, dirtbikes, bmx, private schools, etc), he still had a good work ethic cause his mom made him work in the restaurant and he did well in school and he got jobs for himself in college and blah blah blah. His mom cut him a check for college to cover what his scholarships didn't, and he lived in his plane hangar- not the type with an apartment, he fully lived on a cot in a 200 dollar a month airplane hangar - the year after college so he could pay her back. I think you can give your kids advantages and a good life without making them crazy entitled or lazy, you just have to still parent too lol.

Today I learned a very important aspect about myself: I'd much rather browse images of butts and windows on Google image than making a decision on whether to use node.js or python to do a trivial task that would likely be done by now if I'd managed to make a decision, instead of shitquality forum posts.

 

They're the same as always, but only a few have the new qual. I'm inside my own head about them, so when I do one, I'm writing a paragraph for each thing so basically I haven't been doing any lol.

 

For the record she does work 16 to 20 hours a week (she can only get work in the mall for some crazy reason and they have shitty hours because she is in school ), pay for her car insurance, phone, hulu, clothes, and even saved to buy her own car. I just agreed to food because I felt bad I guess? (I know I provide the room and utilities but I guess I thought that is a given when raising a kid). I need to stop babying her or or stop complaining *edited because fuck working more! LOL.

But Demand? lolno. As far as dinner went, I was never "forced" to eat anything, it was "this is whats for dinner eat it or don't eat it", luckily for me I was never a picky eater, then again maybe that's why I'm not

Ah, makes sense. If that's the case I'd just ride that cash cow into the ground until they take away your qualification haha.

 

This is actually how I learned to cook! My dad told me, "if you don't like what I made, feed yourself!" it was very effective with my sister, who just ate what she was given after that, but I just said, "FINE!"

I had to learn how to use the oven by myself first. I was like 5. I would watch Julia Child on pbs (and opera. loved it!) and would read my dad's betty crocker cookbook and insist Grandma Bunny teach me the family recipes. It worked out well for my dad, cause I learned to be fairly self sufficient and I would cook dinner for everyone once a week or so.

But yeah, fair was definitely non-existent in my house. I was the child my dad "regretted" having, yayyyy. Oh well, learned some valuable lessons at least and did not come back after I was 18. Fairness was at a 0, but self reliance was at a solid 10.

 

I actually look at the Boomers and think they are the most entitled people that have ever lived. Maybe it's just the high amount of Boomer vets that live in my area. I work at a university, so it's a lot of the last Millenials and beginning of w/e the next gen is called and I think they don't expect much in the way of jobs or benefits, but they do feel entitled to everyone respecting their feelings. Honestly, you could be mean to me if you pay me an extra $5K a year. I'll put up with it. The next gen of kids just doesn't think that way. They also have all these self diagnosed problems. "I have anxiety." "I have depression." "I have <insert affliction>." Half of them have never been to a professional. That wasn't really their fault though. That was their parents.
