10/22 - Many Mondays

Hell I never had organics. We were on welfare and most of that was sold to others for beer so we had to eat what was given. It wasn't until she was on those teen social sites that she discovered all this shit. She was good for the 1st 13-14 years and ate meat, etc..

IIRC my introduction to cooking was waking up before my parents and going down to the stove and throwing milk and eggs and some flour into a pan
Probably threw some bacon in the sink for good measure.

But as I said, my parents were (mostly) super cool so they didn't mind much, and may have even ate that mess lol

 

I mean, it's fair to tell her that she can eat what you guys give her, or she can provide it for herself. You're not letting her starve if she's refusing to eat food you all eat. She can either get with the program or go buy her own organics. It's not cruel, it's sorta how life works. Even Matt only gets so much say in what I cook him, because he can go feed himself and do all the shopping or he can be happy I make him meals he likes most of the time that are nutritionally sound and only make him eat Bird centric foods sometimes.

Just my 2 cents. You can give someone options or take care of them without letting them dictate things cause at the end of the day, you're still the one providing that stuff for her and she doesn't get some ultimate food authority over her own mom.

 

Nah, you should be proud of her (as I'm sure you are)
She wants to eat well, there is nothing wrong with that, and nothing wrong with a parent wanting to provide the best they can for their child
So be proud of yourself as well

 

That's the truth for sure. Being an adult is hard and they neglected to give any of us a handbook. We're all really only doing the best we can.

I'm still convinced the adult police will catch on to me and show up to take my adult card away from me when they realize I'm friggen clueless and I flail my arms around at least once a day.

Realistically, I have been flailing like 10x an hour because holy shit, end of life care is just a cluster.

My nightmares go something like this:

knock knock knock THE ADULT POLICE: Excuse me ma'am, but we've heard reports that you have been crying on your bathroom floor, had many stupid questions about your taxes, and we see here that you forgot to brush your teeth...twice this month? Ma'am, that's disgusting. How many clean socks do you currently have? How many vegetables did you eat this month? You don't seem to be hitting the quota. It also looks like you paid your cell phone bill late once this year.

me: Wait...BY A DAY! I was moving that weekend, I lost track of time!

The adult police: i'm sorry ma'am, but if you can't remember to pay something every single month on the 6th, can we trust you to run your own life? It looks like you even got pulled over this year.

me: that was a legal u-turn! the officer let me go.

The adult police: we have reason to believe you shoplifted protein powder ma'am.

me:...that was an accident.

The adult police: Yes, we believe you, but you're simply too incompetent to run your own affairs any longer. We will be placing you in a home with provided parents.

me: but, I'm an adult! I don't need to live with parents.

The adult police: Actually ma'am, you're no longer an adult. We've just decided that.

Bizarre

 

There are a few things I am proud of. I mean at least she cooks or makes her own food the majority of the time now. I just buy it. She will eat with us if she likes it but that is rare now. It is not like she is like "mom, cook this food for me!" I have a limited knowledge of cooking and it is long story on the rest...
