She died years ago, and we had her headstone engraved with puppies

I was my dad's caretaker with his various health issues and then ultimately cancer, and we still literally never discussed it, even while he was actively dying, and I was 29 at the time. Because repressing emotions and denying the human condition of mortality is healthy and stuff. Kids will never accept that their parents are going to bite it.

 

I'll see you in a few months.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad! What a young age to lose a parent. Bless you for being there for him.

I totally accept death. But I had a really shitty thing thing happen to me when I was 9, and then again at 33, so death and I are close.

I watched my mom's live in boyfriend crash his plane and die in front of us when I was 9. So, yeah, no avoiding that reality.

My daughter died when I was 33. So, yeah, keenly aware how much that sucks.

Kiddos will discuss my daughter's death, but not mine. 26 year old's bio mom (I'm the 2nd mom) got breast cancer and lost a breast and she freaked the hell out over that (as one should), even tho her mom wasn't close to dying. Didn't do chemo or radiation or anything (thank god for Early Detection!!)

All that said, I don't like thinking about my own death...the literal nothingness of after. I want to live forever.

Frick. Now I need a drink. Time to go set up Bumble, lol.

I find it hilarious the only Pins I get warned on are the ones that have one where both pins fail to load

 

Oh gosh I'm so sorry! I can't imagine that at age 9, yikes. And that makes sense why your kids would have difficulties with it too, I'm really sorry you guys went through that. Yes yes, go do Christmasy things, that makes it better. See, repression and denial always works.

 

Not gonna lie, I do everything not to think aboutabout my parents dying. I had a near breakdown a couple months ago when I saw first responders trying to resuscitate a motorcyclist on the side of the road. I looked at him and immediately thought of my dad and started tearing up. Man was built just like him and had tattoos in the same spot. Then all I thought about on the rest of the way home was that one day my parents will die. I just hope that they go out peacefully. My heart broke for whoever that man was.
