I was thinking more of a safety issue,as in a fire hazard,honestly I don't know for sure, but it sounds a bit dicey

So you are on wifi and even worse a wifi extender? Your ISP most likely won't want to help you.

 

btw @StuffAlleySays Different DNSs won't help for your internet speed past the first handshake. A good one can lower your ping time when loading a new website ect but that won't change your internet speed in a speed test ect.

 

I am direct connected to my router, but the wifi in the house is just as bad. I told them yesterday and emailed several screen shots of my lack of connectivity today. I told them that I was not happy about losing income and that my kids can not complete schoolwork. But no one has responded, even called the tech guy on his cell number yesterday and today. I assume Monday will be the earliest I hear anything. They try to tell me it is because we are only a block from the tower, that the signal is "too strong" so they set our reciever to 70%. I also tried a different channel, switching from 11 to 9...I think they just have no idea what they are doing. For over a year they kept telling us they were goingto be installing the fiber. We thought this meant to the house, it was just to the tower. Didn't make any difference for us :/

 

If you don't have another ISP in your area you will need them to actually come in your house to properly fix stuff most likely.
