Going to start this w/ saying I appreciate all the below posts.. there is NO WAY to avoid growing pains on TV, and frankly public discourse on the topic is fine by me because many brains is how TV got useful in the first place, and if its to stay useful to anyone its gonna take the same thing.

I don't think conflict is in any way a negative thing.. conflict - especially in this discussion - is out of need for the service to work for two totally different people. It may be possible, it may not be, but sure as shit wont find any solutions by avoiding the discussion so I'm dragging it back up 'cause its the only way I can build stuff around it. :ba: u all.

I actually had a similar thought where instead of the first 10 being exported to the daily (...which has obviously proven to be a fantastic way to cause lots of anger & bullshirt) that accounts would start off shadowbanned & be manually approved but I don't really like that either.

Might throw them into a private panel for a few folks to peruse & make judgements on if its "TV quality" level or not.. dislike the transparency, like the culling of the public anger.

Same, its becoming a little frustrating even for me because I really feel like the Comm thing is painfully obvious at this point. It used to be that the majority of people onboarding to TV picked it up relatively quickly, but even I feel like I'm having to do more manual review of the place now & the instance rate of people who are just not even reading the pre-review stuff is getting higher.

I've given you tons of shit in DM over being too aggressive with what should/shouldn't be moderated, so I guess its fair I say I'm kinda frustrated w/ the incoming userbase too at this point. #teammemepanda

TV needs better user materials to a large degree, but some people are outright coming in and using it how they used TO. I wouldn't have made TV if I thought TO was useful, lol.

I really don't know how to fix that.. sadly the most effective solution has just been banning folks & then discussing it w/ them privately when they realize but that's inefficient and not really something I want to spend time on tbh.

Its a problem of perspective right now.. I built something for one usergroup.. they knew what everything did because it was built for them.. now a bunch of people who don't know / aren't used to it are trying to use it and its causing conflict between the two groups but I also don't know where the places to put solutions to the problem are. I tried to make Comm ratings more obvious/defined and it hasn't curbed the problem at all as far as I can see.. & now I'm at a point where its like "look, if you're not going to freaking read that I'm just going to disable your account"

And that is something that feels painfully obvious. How on earth do I draw up content guidelines for what we all know is "TO content" where the review is this long winded speech about never missing an A/C because workers are greater than God that will now get pushed right to the top of the requester's page b/c the aggregate system wants to push more detailed content to the top of the website?

I, personally, want to auto-ban someone who posts something like that. Is it fair? Dunno. Is it actually bad? Dunno. But I know I don't want that kind of content on TV because it is at its very core antagonistic & frankly stupid unless someone is video-recording their entire working session they can't prove they didn't miss/fail an A/C.

TV is resilient to data anomalies and its going to get even better at that.. but human anomalies (sidenote: I spelt anomalies incorrectly both times, both in different ways, god bless google dictionary for saving me)... not so much & it needs to be addressed somehow but I'm a terrible human being who doesn't connect w/ other human beings which makes me ill-suited to doing so, lol.

Man that is a long reply.. 99% not directed at your comment just general ramblings because I seriously need help w/ this problem.

The problem is I built a system that straight up encourages this. It worked alright as a way to bootstrap content moderation but its def gone sour. Most of this stupidity is on me for building a system that literally invites people to huddle around newbie reviews & double check them for signs of drug smuggling, lmao.

LMAO. This was the funniest thing I've read in the thread today haha. Are suicide monkeys a war tactic I don't know about? Sounds OP.

Anywayyy, I get the frustration more or less even if the responses aren't ideal.

A low rumble pulsates through your body and starts to shake the room. The foul smell brings you to your knees and your eyes sting. You pray for a merciful death that never comes.

Oooh! Oooh! Raises hand for book club!

But only if it's cool that I listen to an audio version. I can't hold a book and crochet at the same time, but I can listen to a book and crochet at the same time because I'm hella talented.

I do not give a crocheted gift WITHOUT the bonus hair strands.

It's often down to my waist (curly - until I get sick of it and chop it up to my shoulders, then it grows out again...) so there is no avoiding my hair in a crocheted gift. It's a bonus. It shows how much I love people that I literally give them pieces of myself.
