    My parents just knock a couple hundred bucks off what I owe them for bailing us out of the year of terribleness and say "merry christmas".

    I do. Santa (aka my parents... aka my mom) brings presents every year. And my siblings and I exchange gifts also.

    But of course. Batteries, a coffee mug with the garage sale sticker still on it, pants 4 sizes too big.

    On my side I do gift baskets to my brother's families. I'll do a theme, like movies and snacks, boardgames and treats etc....They don't get me anything but I wanted my kids to learn about giving and not just get ,get, get.

    I ask them to either get me a giftcard or don't buy my anything at all. They're getting a giftcard too, except mom because she's the only one I like.

    My dad told me he wanted some of those ratcheting wrench sets, so I got him a giftcard to Harbor Freight and I drew a little wrench on his card.

    The Santa rule is "those who believe, shall receive". That was my solution to having children over a decade apart. My kids will be 40 and still writing notes to Santa Claus. The college kids are not married and usually come stay the night on Christmas Eve with the younger kids. Then they all still come jump on the bed in the morning. They will never question Santa, at this point I envision being 90 yo in the nursing home and my 70 year old kids will be jumping on my bed Christmas morning.
