we had a snowstorm recently and the weight of the snow made a tree break and fall on my roof and screw up my front porch and gutters and messed up the hole in the front porch where raccoons live. also, raccoons love living in things next to trees. i think i have a critter in the attic, i hear it scurrying around every night. might be a squirrel. ooh, maybe a whole family! i get a lot of woodpeckers too, slowly dismantling the side of the house.
i rent though, so not my problem. homeownership must be frustrating. oh, i mean, good luck! i'm sure it'll be fiiiine!

The vet asked how Scraggles was adjusting to living indoors yesterday and I told her, "Well, he felt comfortable sampling his wet food, spitting it at me, and shoving it away in a rage cause he apparently does not like that type. But animals getting in the house leads to a lot of fun stories to share with people who just call maintenance for that and have never had to figure out the squirrels were getting into the basement from the attic because your house is old enough to be balloon construction and everything in the attic ends up in the basement. You are going to love it!!

 

Yes...the attic. We hear snakes sliding across the attic floors especially at night, and something else scurrying. It's extremely creepy. I keep telling my husband he has to go up there and kill them, but he swears he can't find anything. I think he lies.

 

Hope everyone had a happy new year's. I knocked two things off the 'Things that you do when you live in Chicago' bingo card over the break. One was having a tire blowout on I-94 in a place where you definitely don't want to have that sort of thing happen. The other was poking around in a city trash can on a busy corner trying to find the parking receipt you threw away so you could contest the $65 ticket the meter maid gave you for having an expired meter 6 minutes after you paid for 30 minutes...found the receipt!
