    I did that because I thought if you had a flat roof, you'd always want both checked. Are there situations where that doesn't work?...I haven't done a lot of those HITs, but I didn't have any problems with it.

    Yeah, it's because they share the same value. FWIW, almost every time I've seen a flat roof shape, it also had a flat roof material (like concrete). The rare times I've seen a flat roof shape with shingles/tiles/shake doesn't even reach double digits out of some ~1500 HITs. Maybe 3 or 4 times at the most.
