    My dogs don't bark much at night, but I'm pretty sure they yap at anything when I'm at work. The little one is so loud and full of piss and vinegar.

    If they wash the egg, then it CAN get inside since the egg shell is porous. The eggs are laid with a bacteria protecting barrier, but once the egg is washed, that barrier is gone. That is why you see the pristine eggs in stores (they've been washed and kept at a minimum temperature) but you can leave fresh unwashed eggs on the counter.
