I just checked and the place that I'm at right now is going up to $1500/mo for new renewals and this is on the cheaper side of non ghetto places.

 

Years ago, yeah, we would go out early morning or late evening to get blue claw crabs and catch bushels, or go clamming, or go fishing and catch 200 flounder and it was great

Nowadays it's a joke and I do not miss the coast at all

 

That's the one good thing about the Midwest. Currently in a $1,350/mo 3 bedroom

 

the super ghetto apartments in my town are 1100 for a 2 bedroom

 

Holy cow. We're buying our house, but our mortgage is only $876. We have 3 BR, 2 bath, LR and a 30 foot long kitchen on the main floor with a garage and a full size walkout basement sitting on 3 acres. I couldn't imagine spending that much on rent!

 

Rent is crazy in most big cities. My old studio in Dallas is $1100/mo. Add in two bedrooms and it's easily $1500/mo.

 

our rent versus own ratio is a bit goofy though.

actual housing isn't too expensive if you want to own/mortgage, but rent is pretty high.

Yeah that is weirdly expensive but you own so it works out

 

The city I live in now is cheap. Not 285 cheap, but you can a 3 bedroom house for under $1000 in a decent neighborhood. Probably more like $800 if you shop around a bit. Helps that it's a border town.
